Connection at Every Step: Bringing Women’s Health Devices from Concept to Care
From diagnostics to pelvic health, women’s health devices need more than a good design. See what goes into manufacturing them, from prototype to commercial scale.

Connection at Every Step: Bringing Women's Health Devices from Concept to Care
A Growing Category with Diverse Device Needs
Women's health is one of the faster-growing areas of medtech. A growing number of new technologies are reaching patients across diagnostics, minimally invasive procedures, fertility, labor and delivery, and pelvic health care.
The devices behind this care are as varied as the care itself, from visualization and sampling systems to access and delivery tools, procedure kits, and collection systems. Many are single use devices, so each one has to be assembled, tested, and packaged consistently, with sterilization managed along the way.
For OEMs, moving from a working prototype to commercial volume depends on the manufacturing partner as much as the design. This article covers where these devices show up in care and what goes into manufacturing them.
Where These Devices Show Up in Care
Robling supports women's health device programs across four areas of care.
- Diagnose and screen. Visualization, sampling, imaging, and diagnostics.
- Access and treat. Hysteroscopy, access and delivery, and surgical therapy.
- Reproductive. Fertility, labor and delivery, and postpartum care.
- Pelvic health. Continence, drainage, recovery, and patient care.
Applications include hysteroscopy and gynecologic visualization, tissue sampling and biopsy devices, gynecologic access and delivery systems, fertility and assisted-reproduction disposables, labor and delivery procedure devices, postpartum care and collection systems, pelvic health and urogynecology products, and procedure kits, trays, and surgical disposables.
What It Takes to Manufacture Them
Robling Medical helps OEMs develop, transfer, and scale women's health technologies, from minimally invasive access and complex device assemblies to procedure kits, collection systems, and finished single use devices. That work draws on several capabilities.
- Design and development. Proof of concept, prototyping, design freeze, and design for manufacturing.
- Cleanroom production. Controlled assembly, validated processes, and inspection.
- Precision assembly. Bonding, welding, forming, and component integration, including solvent, UV, and epoxy bonding of fluid path components, ultrasonic and RF welding, heat staking, laminating, and complex catheter processes such as cutting, tipping, reflowing, and punching, along with electromechanical assembly and testing.
- Testing and quality. Leak, pressure, flow, functional, and visual testing.
- Packaging and sterility. Kitting, sterile barrier packaging, and sterilization management.
- Commercial scale. Production scale-up, sourcing, and fulfillment, supported by supply chain management that includes procurement and vendor qualification, and by final processing that includes warehousing and distribution.
Robling brings these capabilities together as one connected partner for complex single use devices.
The Robling Difference
Cross-functional teams bring engineering, quality, manufacturing, packaging, and supply chain together, helping OEMs reduce transfer risk, simplify execution, and move confidently into commercial production.
Robling has deep experience with single-use devices and electromechanical systems, U.S.-based operations for enhanced communication, speed, and regulatory alignment, and proven results supporting clinical builds and commercial scale-up. The company is ISO 13485 certified and FDA registered.
