Summary:
The Electro-Mechanical Technician Level II, (EMST-II) will work in the Electro-Mechanical Systems Assembly and Test Area assembling durable and disposable electronic medical equipment. The EMST-II will primarily be responsible for assembly, test, troubleshooting and repair of both sub-assemblies and finished products in accordance with the written policies, procedures and instructions of the company. The EMST-II will assemble and test devices by following detailed assembly instructions and using company supplied tooling and fixtures. Operations must be performed accurately and within established time frames. An EMST-II will be responsible for ensuring all of their work is correct before it is moved to the next assembly location and will complete all necessary forms and documentation. EMST-II will be a key participant in the training and qualification of other team members. They will also be the primary source for troubleshooting and repair of non-functioning units including field returns. They will participate in the generation of writing instructions, non-conforming material reports and repair documents. Technicians may work solo or in teams and may work on multiple projects per shift. All assembly is performed indoors in a clean, controlled manufacturing environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
· Assembly of large and small complex electro-mechanical devices consisting of but not limited to: sheet metal, machined materials, metric and SAE fasteners, computers, tablets, PCBAs, electrical cable, wires and harness assemblies.
· Skilled in the use of basic mechanical hand tools, including torque drivers, heat gun sand cutting tools.
· Able to build benchtop sub-assemblies to written instructions and complete in process paperwork without supervision.
· Perform product functional testing according to procedures, document results and troubleshoot, diagnose and repair nonfunctioning electro-mechanical units as needed.
· Able to read and follow electrical and pneumatic schematics.
· Able to inspect the in-process work of other team members.
· Ability to work with computers, test equipment and fixtures to flash/program PCBs, perform product calibrations and perform product in-line and final functional testing.
· Wire cutting/stripping and terminal crimping with hand tools or machines.
· Ability to work with adhesives and able to bond components.
· Ability to assemble light weight pneumatic components such as small metal pipes/fitting and plastic tubes/fittings.
· Application of labels and stickers to devices and packages.
· Packaging of finished assemblies and sub-assemblies into boxes or crates.
· Accurate completion of documents such as timesheets, router forms and in-process inspection forms, in accordance with best documentation practices
· Other similar duties as necessary.
Required Qualifications
· Ability to read, comprehend and follow written (English) assembly instructions.
· Ability to use basic hand tools such as drivers, ratchets, hex keys and wrenches.
· Ability to use and adjust torque wrenches.
· Able to use digital multi-meter.
· Ability to read a ruler (both standard and metric) and calipers.
· Ability to work with wires, cables and printed circuit boards.
· Ability to work with computers and programming stations.
· Good technical aptitude and focus.
· Good written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work well in close team environments with great team values and attitude.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Strong understanding of typical fasteners and tools.
· Minimum 5 years’ experience as an electro-mechanical technician.
Environment & Working Conditions:
· Lifting- 30lbs
· Standing and/or sitting for long periods of time.
· Bending and kneeling.
· Use of mechanical hand tools such as wrenches, screw drivers, torque wrenches, wire crimpers, wire cutters, etc.
· Visual- constant visual attention and ability to differentiate basic colors.
